Reeve Rafael

Our beautiful baby boy was born on May 27th at 4:50PM. He was 9lbs. even (our biggest baby) and 21 inches long (our longest baby). I thought he felt like I was carrying a gallon of baby in my belly.
He is eating like a champ and hopefully will be sleeping like one soon. He is currently fighting some jaundice which the other kiddos did as well.

Both Trinity and Everett love him. When we told Trinity she was had another brother she said "That is wonderful!" I love the way she pronounces his name which sounds more like "Weeve." She keeps asking when he is going to wake up so he can play. She has brought him her dollies and sings to him when he cries. Too Cute!
Everett is very curious about him. He gave him kisses and hugs when he first met him. I am hoping they have a very special bond as brothers.

His Name: Eddie and I were throwing out names to consider. We were thinking of traditional names knowing we weren't heading in that direction but basically just making conversation. Eddie suggested Christopher which I said was too normal. Eddie then thought of Christopher Reeve and suggested the name Reeve. I laughed and then thought "hey, that sounds like a cool name." However, we didn't know if it was actually a real name. I looked it up and sure enough, people do have it and it means "steward."

Rafael is the Spanish version of Raphael which means "God has healed". Raphael is also an archangel in addition to our favorite Renaissance artist Raphael or Rafael Sanzio.

Little League

Although these pictures do not highlight any baseball that the kids were playing or Eddie was coaching, it does highlight the joy in running through open fields. We traveled down to Garfield Park to watch the game, although with 2 kids and me 9 months pregnant, there wasn't too must watching as I was chasing...slowly. It is always good to support my hubby while he sacrificing his time and energy to mentor to the kids.

Happy Mother's Day!

Every Mother's Day I head down to Grant Park and walk the Breast Cancer Network of Strength (formerly Y-ME) run/walk with my mama and Aunt Annette. Last year I missed it due to the down pour of rain and snow. I did not want to miss it this year simply because my walking skills are rusty. I recruited Eddie and woke the kids up well before they were ready to get up and headed downtown.

I made it about 1/2 or 3/4 of a mile before I ditched the walking part and just waddled around the fountain and played in the grass.

I think I was the highlight of the day for many people. I had too many comments to count about my *huge* belly. Here are some of my favorites:

You got twins in there?
You look like you are about to pop!
When are you due...today?
Are you trying to self induce yourself?
You are gonna have that baby tomorrow!!!
You got fries with that shake?

My OB/GYN office creates a team every year that runs together. I had faith in knowing I could have paged my doctor right there if need be. Eddie suggested that maybe I should find her and just ask her to check me out since I was certain I was in labor last night. HA!

Part Deux

As I needed a good rest after the walk, Eddie met his parents, sisters, bro-in-law at the zoo with Trinity. Unfortunately Everett decided he wanted to take a short nap so I really didn't rest. Oh well, we had some good quality cuddling time.

After the zoo, we went to dinner in Greektown with everyone. Thankfully it was a loud restaurant so Everett's ruckus wasn't too disturbing.

Again, I was met with looks and another comment that I heard earlier in the day: "Are you due tomorrow?" (Why tomorrow, why not today or next week?)

Perhaps if I do not put my feet up right now, I may go into labor. I am going to go watch the finale of Amazing Race and ask Eddie to rub my feet.

Happy Mama's Day!

Babymoon

Eddie and I spent the night away from home to take in some fancy sheets and fancy eats on Michigan Ave.
We have a lot to celebrate and thought we needed to take a step back and focus on the things in life we have missed over the last year. Here is a short list of things we reflected on and celebrated:
Our 7th Wedding Anniversary
Mother's Day
New Baby coming
Finally settling on a name for baby (it's a secret)
Selling Our Condo (not sure where we are moving yet)
and just enjoying each other's company without being interrupted...ahhhh!

2 weeks and 4 days to go...

CBS Program

Trinity had her annual Community Bible Study Spring Program this past week in which she (and her class) recited bible verses to music. She and the rest of the kids did a much better job this time around than the Christmas program. I am not sure if it were better organized, more practice or just the experience.
It was the last day of the CBS year. I was able to study the books of Hebrews, James and Ephesians all of which I needed at different seasons of this past year.
I hope hoping to join and to teach again next year if my schedule allows. I guess it all depends on where we live and Trinity's preschool schedule.

Heaven?

Tonight Trinity sat in the front window contemplating spiritual matters. With her hand on her chin she asks:
TRIN: "Mama, when will we go to heaven?"
ME: "Well, when we die. Hopefully when we our bodies are old and we have lived a long life on earth."
TRIN: "hmmmmm!"
ME: "You know Trinity, the Bible says that we will be just like the angels in heaven."
TRIN: "Will we still look like we do now in heaven?"
ME: "That is a very good question, one that has been debated many times."

We might have a little theologian on our hands.
