This is What Summer Looks Like

Kid's Fest

We took the kids to a fest, just for kids, by my moms house this past weekend. There were jumpy jumpies, pony rides, a petting zoo, slides, games, a maze and lots more. Everett had his first pony ride on a pony named Buck while Trinity went solo for the first time on Dude. Trinity got to pick up a baby goat while Everett poked animals in the eyes. They both enjoyed the car/train/fire engine ride that went around and around and around and around and around. Everett went on about 8 times and insisted on the same train to ride. It was fun and free!

Longest. Slide. Ride. Ever.

All Smiles

Reeve introduced us to his smile for the first time on June 30th. Since then he has been busy practicing.

Summer in the Burbs

No, we are not suburbans yet although we love to take advantage of the grass and pool and our family's homes.
My mom put out a kiddy pool for Everett to splash in. He was more interested in splashing Trinity with water much like he does in the bathtub.
He was then very content hanging out with my brother on the raft.
Reeve is still waiting for his turn in the pool.

Happy Birthday America!

The weather was rainy and chilly on the 4th of July so our spirits and excitement for fireworks and a BBQ were low. However, we ventured down to the burbs for some good grilled food. At 8:30pm, we headed home. The sky was getting dark so we thought the fireworks would start soon. We pulled over to see them only to wait another 45 minutes for them to begin. We comforted the kids with french fries and ice cream hoping they would not have a melt down before the fun began.

At 10 PM and half way through the show, Trinity was half asleep lying down in the back of the car while Everett was going full throttle. Reeve was keeping contained in the stroller as I kept doing laps around and around the car to keep him asleep.

Everett had the most fun screaming "boom" and cracking us up with his "evil laugh" that he did every time he saw a firework. See video.

We ended the night once Everett started to get fussy and Trinity demanded we go home. We left the area only to get stuck at a stoplight to see the grand finale with a perfect view from the comfort of our cozy car. Plus, we beat all the traffic out of the parking lot. It couldn't have been better timing.

Our past...
our future...
We have closed a chapter of our life - - urban living - - and are opening a new one - - the burbs. Yesterday, with tears, we closed on our beloved condo on W. Moffat St. It is there I graduated college, we spent our first years of marriage, where our children only have known home, where the took their first steps, spoke their first words and had their first birthday parties. I am crying just writing this!! ugh!!

We have countless fond & interesting memories:
our beloved neighbors that became our family;
4th of July on our rooftop deck;
walks to the park;
finding buried treasure in the sandbox;
smoothies at Irazu;
Trinity coloring our tree in our front yard;
Trinity waving and talking to everyone that walked by our condo;
our back patio swing and sand box;
the neighborhood drama;
street cleaning tickets;
the tight garage parking spot;
the 17 steps to go up or down the stairs;
the pantry door always getting stuck;
the sun shining bright into our family room/dining room;
Finally getting my speed bump in front of the house;
Saying good morning to Mr. Tico the squirrel;
The many friends, family and acquaintances (that became our friends) that stayed with us.
The Lord had truly blessed us, our relationships, our conversations and our lives in that home. It will be greatly missed.

Saying goodbye to our empty home.

Eddie carved the kids' initials in the tree in front of the condo, the one Trinity colored with her sidewalk chalk many many times.

Father's Day.

Happy Father's Day to my husband! I have never known a man to be so dedicated to their family and to make known to each child how much he truly loves them. He works so hard to provide for them and is always thinking about what is best for them and their childhood. He is a fun daddy, a lovable daddy, a honorable daddy, an admired daddy. We are all so very blessed to have him.How cute are the "necktie shirts" that everyone is wearing??

Funny outtake: Check out Everett's hand. Sorry Reeve, I think you have a long future of slaps to the face!

Reeve: 4 weeks

Reeve is growing up quickly. He is already over 11 pounds and is starting to get those cute fat rolls on his thighs. He has fit into this family as though he has been here forever. So far he has been pretty easy, with some exceptions. He loves to be held when he is awake and won't have it any other way. This proves to be difficult at times. He is quite a puker. I stink by the end of the day and go through diaper cloths like toilet paper. I can do three loads of laundry a day if I wanted.
Here are some recent pics of the little guy hanging out. enjoy.
