Cody Effing Simpson

I have an unconditional love for my children that surpasses all understanding. Perhaps this is the reason, or perhaps it is the teenage girl still stuck inside me, that I spent 8 hours standing, fighting, pushing and straining every muscle in my body for the opportunity for Trinity to see Cody Simpson in concert.
Now, now that the experience is over, I much rather would have paid a boat load of money to have an assigned seat to such an event. When I went to his website a week ago to see if such an event existed, I learned he would be playing a free concert at the mall 10 minutes from my house. Well, how could I pass that up.

I wish I did. This is how my day went:

My mom came over at NOON to watch the boys while I went to the mall to stand in line to secure a wristband (needed to see the concert) for the event. I quickly ran into mall security who refused to let anyone line up until 3. I went back and forth to my car until I joined the mob of people forming in the parking lot at 2:30. At 2:40, my aunt shows up with Trinity whom I had to excuse from school early to get there in time to get a wristband.

At 2:45 they let the mob loose to run into a more uniform line to get said wristband. We avoided being trampled, mostly. We got our wristbands at 4:30 (including another wristband that secures an autograph from Cody) and headed inside the mall to get a quick dinner before we had to line up again to get inside the concert site at 5.

At 4:45 we head back downstairs near the stage where we see a mob rushing to get their spots for the concert. I grab Trinity hand and run though some metal barriers to get a good spot myself totally avoiding any line I should have been in. I see a garbage can near we are and immediately take it over knowing that Trinity can stand on it and see the show and letting me off the hook from having to pick her up high. We wait for 1-1/2 hours until Cody comes on stage. He sings 4 songs and is done.

Now, we have to wait well over an hour to get his autograph. At this point, I am so tired and physically exhausted that I am about to rush the stage, grab a stack of signed posters and make a run for it. I contain myself and my sister-in-law complains to a security guard about the lack of movement on our side of the line. I think maybe he was scared of her or maybe he was happy to talk to an adult besides a teenage girl. They opened a gate near us and let us through. It was like the gates of heaven opening. After over 8 hours on my feet, in a crowd with a big belly and a little child, I wanted to speed out of there and crawl into bed. That is exactly what I did. Trinity did the same and apparently had over 100 dreams about Cody Simpson last night.

Mission complete.
Trinity gets her autographed poster.

If anyone is wondering who the heck this kid is and what the big deal is, here you go. See if your teenage heart goes pitter-patter. :)

Eddie turns thirty...something

I wouldn't dare reveal his age as I would then reveal mine. ha! I have never been so thankful for this man that the good Lord created and an awesome family who raised him. He is truly the better side of me.

Children's Farm

We had the best time at a little farm 5 minutes away that I never visited until now. I never knew it existed until mamapedia had a deal and now I think it is my favorite local fun spot.

School Starts

I am still trying to figure out how Trinity grew up so fast. She is now a first grader and has an over 6 hour school day. After her first week, she is tired but is loving it. I hope that continues.
Everett is going to preschool twice a week which he also loves. He gets to paint, play with Play-do and color with markers. Basically all the things he DOESN'T get to do at home. :)

Super Duper excited!

Arboretum

His first, and proud, time on the rope bridge.

"The" rope bridge

Reeve quickly out-mastered and out-climbed his siblings. It was not too cool with Spiderman, aka Everett.

Nature Muesum

Our last official weekday of Summer came quickly. We made the most of it by having a sleepover with cousin Ava, heading downtown where we caught the air show practice and then spent some time at the Nature Museum. Trinity insisted that her Bitty Baby Michelle joined us.

Reeve was very curious and intrigued by the butterfly room.

Reeve spent a lot of energy rolling heavy logs around.

Chalk Outline

Make up your own story as to what is happening here.
Happy Birthday Luca & Rocco. Be well back in Tokyo!

The Sullivan Family hosts The Campins

Our dear friends Scott and Kristen Sullivan invited the most excited Campins to join them for a couple of fun filled days. Scott/Kristen recently opened their brewery (Greenbush) in Sawyer, MI and we have been very excited to see their success and taste his recipes. delicious!

The Hungry Hound comes to check it out.

Eddie spent his Sunday bartending and chatting with the locals. I think it was the highlight of his year! Love their store front. Greenbush boys...
Coming soon to a Chicago bar near you...

MI Day 2

Saint Joseph: the coolest and most laid back town I have seen in a long time. Complete with beach, park, awesome pizza inside the local Amtrak station, carousal, cannons to climb on and a splash pad to cool off in. Everett was pouting on the Amtrak tracks. I was looking out for the train...

Trinity and Astrid thought they would sit too.

The Sullivans...

The pizza place gives you dough to play with. Genius idea to keep the kids occupied while we wait for lunch.

Reeve especially liked it.

Water time...

Running through the grass time...

You guessed it, park time. Love how much fun she is having.
